Offered is an uncut sheet (5-7/8 x 7-7/8 inches) of twenty-five 1923 “German Transfers" Stamps, which represents a complete set, still attached to the original cardboard hanging tab. This unusual issue features thirteen different baseball players (two duplicates), highlighted by Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, as well as ten boxers including Jack Dempsey. Aside from a pencil notation on the back of the hanging cardboard tab, the set of stamps is in exceptional Nr/Mt condition. The 1923 German Transfers stamp set has received very little attention from collectors, in large part because of its rarity. This an extremely unusual opportunity to obtain this rare set in uncut sheet form and still attached to its original cardboard hanging tab as it appeared in stores nearly ninety-five years ago. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
