Circa 1910 advertising sign issued in promotion of Murad Turkish Cigarettes. Murad, which was a cigarette brand of the Lorillard Tobacco Company, was marketed as "The Turkish Cigarette" because of its use of Turkish tobacco. To emphasize that point to consumers, this dramatic illustration features a Turkish military officer, sword unsheathed, charging into battle on a white steed. A shadowy Middle Eastern city in the background completes the exotic imagery. The text along the top border reads "Murad Turkish Cigarettes," while an illustrated package of Murad Turkish Cigarettes appears in the lower right corner. The sign (16.5 x 25 inches), which is printed on thick cardboard stock, displays modest wear, including a small chip in the upper left corner and two tiny abrasions in the upper right corner. In Excellent condition overall. Framed to total dimensions of 18 x 26.75 inches. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
