Pair of New York Yankees payroll checks issued, respectively, to Lefty Gomez and Reggie Jackson. 1) Payroll check, dated May 15, 1930, made out to "Vernon Gomez" in the amount of $225. Signed in black fountain pen by both "Jacob Ruppert" (grading "10"), and "E. G. Barrow" ("10") on the front, and endorsed in black fountain pen by "Vernon Gomez" ("9") on the reverse. As noted on the reverse, the amount reflects Gomez's salary from May 1st to May 15th. 9 x 3.75. Ex, with a light vertical fold and normal bank cancellation stamps and perforations. 2) Check, dated April 21, 1978, made out to "Reggie Jackson" in the amount of $97.00. Signed in blue ink on the front by a team executive and endorsed by "Reggie Jackson" in blue ink ("8") on the reverse. The Yankees played the Milwaukee Brewers at Yankee Stadium on April 21, 1978, with Jackson going 0-4 in the Yankees 9-2 loss that day. 8.5 x 3.5 inches. Ex-Mt, with normal bank cancellation stamps.
