Presented is an extremely rare trio of 1960 Post Cereal cards, featuring football Hall of Famers Frank Gifford and Johnny Unitas as well as baseball Hall of Famer Al Kaline. Because of their method of issue, on the backs of cereal boxes, these are rarely seen in high grade. 1960 Post Cereal cards have always been the "King" of all Post Cereal cards. They are large, beautiful, and rare not just because they were issued only one card per box; they are just rare, and this was the first year of issue for Post Cereal baseball cards. They were obviously issued on a very limited basis, and the set was successful enough to encourage Post to issue 200-card sets in the three following years. 1960 Post may be a little overlooked in today's marketplace, but it is one of the great classic sets of the era. 1960 Post Cereal are full-color large-format cards (7 x 8.75 inches) featuring stars from several sports and issued one card per box on the backs of boxes of Post Cereal, intended to be carefully cut from the boxes by youngsters. This is a very attractive trio, with vibrant colors and even cuts along the edges. A small wrinkle is present in the nameplate of the Kaline card, and the Gifford card displays a three-inch tear in the lower right along with a light vertical crease visible on the reverse. The three cards all otherwise present as Excellent, with light staining on the reverse, as is common with this issue. The size, beautiful photography, and rich color of 1960 Post Cereal cards make this issue one of the most striking and distinctive of all 1960s cards. This is a beautiful trio from one of the most substantial and rarest all 1960s sets. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
