This collection of three desirable souvenirs from the 1949 All-Star Game, held at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field on July 12th, is highlighted by the rarely seen lighter issued only to members of the press. 1) Press lighter in its original box. The lighter (1.5 x 2.25 inches) features a translucent base in which there is a small rectangular plastic tag that reads "Welcome 1949 All Star Game Brooklyn Dodgers" on one side, and "Dodgers" on the other. The middle segment of the lighter, just below the lid, features a black band that displays the 1949 All-Star Game logo within a gold circle that reads "Press - Ebbets Field." This is only the second example of this rare lighter we have ever seen, and the first to include its original box (3.25 x 3 x .75 inches). Manufactured by "Ritepoint," the silver and black box includes the original instruction brochure, cardboard mount, and cotton. The lighter remains in Near Mint condition, while the box displays moderate handling wear and is in Excellent condition. 2) Press pin. Nr-Mt. Manufactured by Balfour; threaded-post back. One inch in diameter. 3) Program. Neatly scored in pencil through the sixth inning. Ex. Total: 3 items (lighter, press pin, and program). Reserve $300. Estimate $500++.
