Graded VG+ 3.5 by SGC. Presented is one of vintage-card collecting's most recognizable icons and the key card of the 1911 Turkey Red Tobacco cabinet-card series: #9 Ty Cobb. Besides being the most valuable card in the set, it is also one of the most desirable and striking of all Ty Cobb cards. This example is bright and crisp with bold colors, excellent centering, and flawless registration. The only flaws are moderate wear on the corners, a touch of paper loss on the upper-left corner of the reverse, and light creases on both the right and bottom borders The checklist back (with offer) is mainly clean and centered toward the left. Despite these flaws, this is a very attractive example in an extremely desirable grade. The classic Turkey Red set is considered by many to be the most beautiful and well-made tobacco set ever issued. The T3 Ty Cobb has always and will always be in high demand, especially a relatively affordable example such as this, which presents so much better than its technical grade. Opening Bid $5,000.
