Postwar Baseball - 1960s Cards
Extraordinary high-grade, near-complete set of 1962 Topps composed of 569 different cards (out of 598), each professionally graded and encapsulated NM-MT 8 by PSA. This group of cards, which represents 95 percent of a complete set, has a pack-fresh appearance throughout with bold colors, strong corners, and excellent centering. The 1962 Topps set has a well-deserved reputation for being the era's most condition-sensitive issue. The flush-to-the-border brown wood-grain design makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear and the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is a stunning, high-grade near-complete set of this classic issue that includes many of the great stars of the era, highlighted by Duke Snider, Yogi Berra,, Stan Musial, and Willie McCovey. Also included are four variations: #132, 134, 174, and 458. Missing the following twenty-nine cards for a complete basic set (twelve of which are being offered as separate lots in this auction): #1 Maris, 5 Koufax, 6, 10 Clemente, 18 Managers Dream, 25 Banks, 30 Mathews, 100 Spahn, 199 Perry, 200 Mantle, 218 Torre, 287, 288 Williams, 290, 300 Mays, 310 Ford, 313 Maris Blasts, 318 Mantle/switch hitter, 320 Aaron, 323, 349, 350 F. Robinson, 365, 387 Brock, 441, 471 Mantle AS, 520, 530 Gibson, and 598 Hickman. This is an exceptional ultra-high-grade near-complete set of 1962 Topps that would provide a tremendous foundation for the assembly of, or make excellent additions to, a world-class complete set. The total SMR value for the 573 graded cards is $25,877. Total: 573 cards (569 different plus four variations). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $10,000.
