Prewar Baseball - T Tobacco Cards

Graded VG 3 by SGC. The offered card is one of three graded at this level by SGC with just three higher. This is an extremely attractive T206 White Border of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb (portrait, red background) with a very desirable Cycle 460 advertising reverse, ranked by T206Resource.com as the seventeenth toughest back (with some almost impossible backs like Ty Cobb, Brown Old Mill, and Brown Lenox ahead of it). The red Cobb portrait is one of the most recognizable cards in all of card collecting. It is also regarded as one of Cobb's most famous and striking cards! The offered example displays vibrant colors, a strong image, honest corner wear, and centering toward the top. The important Cycle 460 advertising reverse is clean and boldly printed. Previously the card was encapsulated as Authentic by PSA due to pressed corners (likely from screwdown storage over the years). We see no evidence of alteration and SGC has agreed given their numerical assessment. This is an outstanding scarce-back example of this classic Ty Cobb tobacco card, worthy of even the most advanced Ty Cobb, Hall of Fame, or T206-back collection. Reserve $5,000.
