Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. This is the ONLY example graded by PSA to date! Stunning 1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinet card of Hall of Famer “Smiling” Mickey Welch of the New York Giants (pose #486-1). This is a stunning Hall of Famer example from one of the 19th century's most revered sets. All Old Judge cabinets are extremely desirable, especially Hall of Famers, and Mickey Welch is one of the most prominent of all 19th century Hall of Famers. This card has an 1888 copyright date. That year marked the Giants' first pennant, as Welch and teammate Tim Keefe accounted for 61 of the team's 84 victories. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with superb contrast and even corner wear. The blank reverse is mostly clean. This is a beautiful and extremely rare card of Hall of Famer Mickey Welch from the N173 Old Judge series, one of card collecting’s most substantial and desirable 19th century cabinet-card issues.
