Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by SGC. Very attractive example of Joe Jackson's classic 1916 M101-5 Sporting News card. All Jackson cards are naturally rare. Despite playing for 13 years before his banishment, very few cards of Jackson were issued during his playing days. He was not a regular in 1910 and was, therefore, not included in the tobacco issues of that time. He was banned from baseball following the 1920 season and did not make it into the popular American Caramel and related issues of 1921. Besides a few strip-card issues, there are just not many cards that feature Jackson with his infamous team, the White Sox. The Sporting News and associated sets are by far the most popular of all his White Sox cards, as they picture the star in a classic Conlon batting pose. This is the same picture that is used for his Cracker Jack card. This well-centered card boasts superb image quality and even corner wear. The blank reverse is clean. Unobtrusive wrinkles on the front contribute to the assigned grade. This is a strong mid-grade example of one of the era's most classic cards, dating from the heart of Joe Jackson’s great career.
