Graded VG/EX 4 by SGC. The N300 Mayo's Cut Plug of Hall of Fame pitcher Amos Rusie from the New York Giants of the National League was issued in two variations in the Mayo set, with his name spelled correctly and with his name misspelled "Russie." This is the variation with the correct spelling. Because Rusie's career spanned the years from 1889 to 1901, an era in which few sets were issued, he appears on very few cards. Bright and crisp with moderate wear to the condition-sensitive edges and corners. The blank back is mostly clean, with a few scattered spots of chipping. This is a strong mid-grade example of one of the most important Hall of Famers in the Mayo set and one of Amos Rusie’s classic cards, dating from the height of his career.
