Prewar Baseball Cards (1900-1941)

Graded VG 40 by SGC. Extremely rare E107 Breisch-Williams series card featuring New York Giants Hall of Fame manager John McGraw. This is only the second E107 John McGraw that we have handled in the past 21 years. Only eight McGraw examples have ever been graded by SGC (two EX, two VG, two FAIR, one POOR, and one "Authentic"), and only one example has ever been graded by PSA (VG). Few prewar card sets compare in rarity or significance to E107 Breisch-Williams. Issued in 1903, these distinctive cards represent one of the few sets of baseball cards to be issued during the years between the popular photographic cards of the 1880s (such as Old Judge) and the many tobacco- and caramel-card issues of the 1910 era, for which E107s can also be credited with establishing the general design. This example offers a crisp image, slightly rounded corners, and surface paper loss along the right edge on the back. The desirable advertising reverse is boldly printed. This is a very attractive and extremely rare Hall of Fame example from one of card collecting's most significant sets.
