Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. This is the ONLY example graded at this level by PSA with none higher! Extremely rare E107 Breisch-Williams series card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Addie Joss of the Cleveland Naps of the American League. This card is widely recognized as Joss' rookie card as it is the first standard card issue featuring the legendary Hall of Fame pitcher. Joss, of course, was considered by many to be the single greatest pitcher in the game before his life was tragically cut short by illness in 1911. Few prewar card sets compare in rarity or significance to E107 Breisch-Williams. Issued in 1903, E107s have long been revered by collectors. This set represents the only major baseball-card set of the era, features many players that appear in no other sets, and includes the first cards ever issued of many important stars and Hall of Famers, including Addie Joss. E107s can also be credited with establishing the general design for most of the candy and tobacco issues of the 1910 era. E107s are often found with condition problems. This example is in spectacular high grade! It is rare to find any E107 in such high grade, let alone legendary Hall of Famer Addie Joss. Bright and crisp, with even wear on the corners, a flawless image, and excellent centering (slightly left). The reverse is boldly printed and bears light age toning on approximately 85% of the reverse, likely the result of having once been housed in an album or scrapbook with corner mounts as two of the corners on the reverse are clean with no age toning. The card has an Excellent appearance. This is a very significant card, as a rare type card, as an E107 Hall of Famer, and as the rookie card for Addie Joss.
