Extremely rare E107 Breisch-Williams series card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Chief Bender from the Philadelphia Athletics of the American League. This card is widely recognized as Bender's rookie card as it is the first standard card issue featuring the legendary Hall of Fame pitcher (only W600 was issued from the same year but is a large-format issue). The rarity of the offered card cannot be overstated! This is the first E107 Chief Bender that we have ever handled, and it is one of only seven examples ever to be graded and encapsulated by SGC (one by PSA). The E107 Breisch-Williams set includes many players who appear in no other issues, and is all the more significant to advanced collectors as it also features the first cards ever issued for many important players, including Chief Bender. Graded POOR 10 by SGC, this example offers a crisp image. Heavy creasing, rounded corners, and two pieces of clear tape on the blank reverse account for the modestly assigned grade. Attractive and extremely rare Hall of Fame rookie example from one of card collecting's most significant and elusive sets.
