Prewar Baseball Cards (1900-1941)

Presented is a near-complete set (minus three) of sixty-three different 1910 T210 Old Mill "Series 6" cards featuring Blue Grass League players. Missing only Mullin, the rare Stengel, and Toney for completion. The T210 set is actually composed of eight different series, each a set unto itself, representing a different minor league. The "Series 6" cards feature players from the Blue Grass League. A complete or near-complete series such as this is very rarely offered. Thirty-one cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC (26) and PSA (5). SGC Grading Composite: EX 60 (8 cards): Angermeir/fielding, Angermeir/portrait (PSA EX 5), Hicks, Kuhlman/portrait (EX 5), Meyers, Schenberg/portrait (PSA EX 5), Van Landingham/Lexington (PSA EX 5), and Van Landingham/Shelbyville. VG/EX+ 55 (1 card): Gisler. VG/EX 50 (4 cards): Callahan (VG/EX 4), Kimbrough, L'Heureux (VG/EX 4), and Olson. VG+ 45 (1 card): Keifel. VG 40 (6 cards): Barnett, Beard, Coleman (VG 3), Ellis, Scott, and Viox (PSA VG 3). GOOD 30 (5 cards): Atwell, Harold (PSA GOOD 2), Heveron, Kircher/Shelbyville, and Tilford. FAIR 20 (2 cards): Everden and Goosetree/hands behind back. POOR 10 (3 cards): Goosetree/leaning on bat, Kuhlman/3/4 length, and Yancey. Authentic (1 card): Wills. Condition of the thirty-two unencapsulated cards is 25% Vg to Vg-Ex, 15% Gd, and 60% lesser (including one that measures small, one with a slight trim, and one with a miscut appearance due to heavy wear). The T210 Old Mill Tobacco card set has always been extremely highly regarded by advanced collectors because it features so many players who appear in no other sets, it has a very distinctive design, it is scarce compared to most other tobacco-card sets of the era, and it features striking photos unique to the set. The T210 Old Mill set is also well known by collectors due to its inclusion of Joe Jackson (Series 8) and Casey Stengel (Series 6), which are today regarded as two of the most famous and valuable of all baseball cards. It is virtually impossible to complete the entire set, and only a few complete sets (or even sets minus a few cards) have ever been assembled. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a near-complete set of one of the key series, featuring Blue Grass League players of the Southern League. Total: 63 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
