Graded NM 7 by SGC. One of only four examples graded at this level with only one higher out of eighty-two examples evaluated by SGC to date. Stunning ultra high-grade example of the key card featuring the legendary Cap Anson from this very popular and colorful set of fifty, which includes just eight baseball players, issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen. Considered by many to be the most beautiful of all nineteenth-century tobacco-card issues, the N162 Goodwin Champions set has cemented its place as one of the premier baseball-card sets ever produced from any era. The set features champions and stars of the day from a wide variety of sports. This extraordinary NM example is beautifully centered (slightly toward the bottom left), with bright, flawless colors and perfect registration. Boldly printed checklist reverse. The card has a NM-MT appearance but has been downgraded to NM due to just a hint more corner wear than allowed by the grading standards for that lofty grade. This is a magnificent high-grade example, one of the finest we have ever seen or offered, of one of the most classic of all nineteenth-century baseball cards. This card is a gem and would be a significant highlight in even the most advanced world-class collection.
