Rarely offered near-complete set of forty-one cards (out of forty-four) plus the header-card from "The Wizard of Oz" series, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. Issued by the Castell Brothers of England in 1940, these cards measure 2-1/4 by 3-1/2 inches and feature colorful illustrations of various scenes from the classic 1939 film. The set is composed of four subsets that use repeating numbers for the cards but are differentiated by the color of the number and box. Missing the following three cards for completion: #1 Dorothy & Toto (Red #/White Box), 6 (Black #/Red Box), and 7 (Green #/Yellow Box). This set consists of the following: 1) Header Card (VG 3). 2) Blue #/White Box: MINT 9 (2 cards): #1 and 5 Elpheba/Monkey. NM-MT+ 8.5 (4 cards): #2, 4, 8, and 10. NM-MT 8 (5 cards): #3, 6, 7, 9, and 11. 3) Black #/Red Box: MINT 9 (6 cards): #1, 2 Elpheba/Dorothy, 3, 4, 7, and 8 Elpheba Melting. NM-MT+ 8.5 (1 card): #9 Dorothy with Elpheba's Broom.
