Presented is a very substantial and mostly high-grade collection of twenty-seven 1997 Grand Slam Ventures Tiger Woods cards. The Grand Slam Ventures "Champions of Golf - The Masters Collection" set was first issued in 1993 with the understanding that a new card would be issued each year to honor that season's Masters champion. Uncut collector's sheets were also issued some years. After Tiger Woods' historic Masters win in 1997, his prized Grand Slam Ventures card was subsequently available in the 1997 and 1998 (updated to include 1998 champion Mark O'Meara) boxed sets. In 1999 (as the set was drawing to a close), only uncut collector's sheets were produced to honor the final Masters champion in the set (Jose Maria Olazabal). Due to Tiger Woods' immense popularity at the time, many of these sheets were neatly cut into single cards by dealers. This collection consists entirely of examples cut from the 1999 collector's sheets. It is our understanding that PSA does not grade this version and that SGC will grade them with the year indicated as 1997-99 rather than 1997. Condition ranges from Ex to Nr/Mt overall (averaging Ex-Mt), with a couple Nr/Mt-Mt. An outstanding collection of this modern classic featuring one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game dating from very early in his legendary career. Total: 27 cards.
