United States Men's Basketball uniform worn by K.C. Jones during the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. This uniform originates directly from the K. C. Jones estate. Led by Jones and Bill Russell, the 1956 United States Men's Basketball Team dominated the field in historical fashion, winning each of their eight tournament games by at least 30 points. Jones played his role to perfection, averaging 10.9 points per game during the tournament while playing his trademark suffocating defense. The triumph marked the United States' fourth consecutive gold medal in men's basketball at the Olympic Games. The white jersey features Jones' number "5" on the front and reverse. The numbers are appliquéd in solid blue fabric on red tackle twill. The open sleeves and rounded collar have red and blue stripes and a "Wilson" label is situated on the front left tail. The player number ("#5") and size ("46 reg") is typed along the base of the label. The matching white shorts, with blue side panels bearing white "USA" lettering, feature Jones' number "5" sewn on the left leg and an Olympic patch on the right leg. The blue waistband displays an adjustable belt. A "Wilson 45 36" tag resides in the waistband with a "Skinner" tag adjacent. Both the jersey and shorts are completely original, with no alterations, and display moderate wear, including small stains throughout. This is a museum-quality piece that would be worthy of display at the Basketball Hall of Fame or the Smithsonian Institute. Total: 2 items (jersey and shorts).
