Rod Carew H&B signature-model ("C243") bat dating from the 1980 to 1983 manufacturing period. Graded GU 8 by PSA/DNA. The uncracked bat displays excellent use along the entire barrel, including several ball marks, ball stitch impressions, blue rack marks, and a light application of pine tar on the handle. Carew's uniform number ("29") is written on the knob in black marker. A member of baseball’s elite 3,000 Hit Club, Carew was one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. In 1977 he flirted with the magical .400 mark for much of the season before finishing with a league-leading and career-high average of .388. Even age 40 in 1985, he managed to appear in 127 games, finishing the season with a .280 average. He retired with a career .328 average and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 31.9 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA (a corresponding sticker affixed to the handle). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
