Baltimore Orioles road jersey worn by Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson in 1966. Graded A10 by MEARS. The gray flannel jersey is lettered "Baltimore" across the front and features the number "5" on the left breast and reverse. "B. Robinson" is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in orange on black felt. The year, jersey number, and size ("66 5 42") are chain-stitched in black upon a white strip tag in the collar. A "Spalding" label is situated on the left front tail, below which are a laundry tag and adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1966." Brooks has signed and inscribed the jersey in black marker on the right breast. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations, and displays heavy wear. Robinson batted .269 with 23 home runs and 100 RBI in 1966. Those numbers not only helped lead the Orioles to the pennant, but also helped Brooks finish second in the MVP voting at season's end, behind teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Frank Robinson. Considered to be the greatest fielding third baseman in history, Robinson also won his his seventh (out of an eventual record sixteen) consecutive Gold Glove Award at season's end. The Orioles swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games in the 1966 World Series, thereby earning the club its first of three World Championships. This is an exceptional Robinson flannel, dating from the club's first championship in franchise history, that would be at home in even the most advanced collection. Graded A10 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with no deductions). Full LOA from MEARS.
