Extremely rare Boston Red Sox press pin issued for the 1916 World Series against the Brooklyn Robins (Dodgers). All pre-1920 World Series press pins are extremely rare and this example is no exception. The diamond-shaped pin is lettered "Boston Red Sox/Worlds Series." Featured in the center of the pin is the image of a baseball, along with the year, "1916." 1916 marked Babe Ruth's first appearance on the mound in a World Series game. In his only start of the Series, Ruth bested Brooklyn 2-1 in fourteen innings in Game 2. This is the first 1916 Red Sox World Series press pin we have offered in the past 21 years! Manufactured by the "Bent & Bush Co., Boston, Mass" (as noted on the clasp); threaded-post back. Approximately 3/4 x 5/8 inch. This is an outstanding example of this early press pin rarity, with virtually perfect enamel and only light handling wear. Near Mint condition.
