1997 Perez-Steele Great Moments card #98 Richie Ashburn signed by him on the front in blue marker. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card, grading the signature GEM MINT 10. In addition to signing the card, Ashburn has added the inscription "HOF '95" directly below his signature. This is the rarest of all Perez-Steele Great Moments signed cards. The Ashburn card was part of the ninth series, released in 1997. However, Ashburn died later that same year, on September 9, 1997. As a result, collectors had a very short window of time to obtain his signature on a Perez-Steele Great Moments card. This is the first example we have ever offered. The card (5.75 x 8 inches), which is numbered "0090/5,000," is in apparent Near Mint condition. As a point of reference, a lesser quality signed example sold for $9,000 at a public auction in 2023.
