1951 Mickey Mantle New York Yankees home replica jersey with a number "6" on the reverse and the 1951 American League "Golden Anniversary" patch on the left sleeve, produced by Mitchell & Ness, signed by him in blue marker on the front. Mantle has signed the jersey on the left breast, just below the "NY" logo. What makes this jersey especially desirable and sets it apart from the thousands of other Mantle signed jerseys in the hobby is that, in addition to having a number "6" on the reverse, Mantle has added the inscription "No. 6 1951" directly below his name. When Mantle made his debut with the Yankees in 1951 he wore number "6" for the first half of the season before he was sent down to the minors for more seasoning. When he returned to the club on August 24th, his number was changed to "7," which he wore for the remainder of his career and which is now retired by the Yankees. The jersey (size Large) is in Near Mint condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
