Personal check dated December 9, 1940, and signed by Babe Ruth. The check, drawn on the Chemical Bank & Trust Company of New York, is made out to "Cash" in the amount of $250. Signed "G. H. Ruth" in black fountain pen along the base. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature certified as "Authentic." Ruth's preprinted name appears along the left border. A handwritten endorsement from "Hubert L. Merritt" appears on the reverse. Babe Ruth personal checks have long been a favorite of autograph collectors due to their inherent authenticity and the fact that Ruth’s signature is almost always well executed. The check (8.5 x 3.25 inches), which has normal bank cancellation stamps and holes, remains in Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
