Extremely rare cut signature of Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Fame pitcher Eddie Plank, signed “E. S. Plank” in black fountain pen on a small card. Eddie Plank's signature is one of the most elusive of all prewar Hall of Famers because he died in 1926 at the age of 51. This is just the third example we have offered in the past 21 years. Eddie Plank was one of the greatest pitchers of his era and the ace of Connie Mack's staff between the years 1901 and 1914. During that period, Plank won 20 or more games seven times and helped lead the A's to five pennants and three World Championships. One of only 23 pitchers in history to win 300 or more games, Plank's lifetime total of 326 wins ranks thirteenth best all time and third best for left handers. The cut (3.5 x 1.25 inches) is in very Good to Excellent condition overall. A superb example worthy of the finest Hall of Fame collection. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
