Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Superb high-grade example of this classic card featuring Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams in his rookie season. Williams' rookie card is the key to the 1939 Play Ball set and one of the most popular and significant of all postwar baseball cards. The card displays strong corners, centering slightly towards the right, and a clear image of the "Splendid Splinter" in his familiar swing-through pose. The reverse of the card is clean and boldly printed. It is fascinating to note that the text on the back of this rookie card reports that Ted "has a great future according to experts." This is a tremendous example of one of the key cards from the 1939 Play Ball set and one of the most popular cards of the era in extraordinary overall condition.
