San Francisco 49ers home jersey worn by Hall of Fame cornerback Jimmy Johnson during the 1975 season. The red mesh jersey has the number “37" on the front, reverse, and sleeves. “Johnson” is lettered upon a red-mesh nameplate on the reverse. All letters are appliquéd in white tackle twill. The numbers have been applied by means of a heat-transfer process. A Wilson label, bearing the size designation "42," appears on the left front tail. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear, including numerous stains on the numbers. There are a few tiny holes along the lower portion of the front noted for accuracy. A first-round pick out of UCLA, Johnson spent his entire career (1961-1976) with the 49ers, where he became one of the NFL's first shutdown corners. Despite teams rarely throwing his way, Johnson finished his career with 47 interceptions. A four-time All-Pro, five-time Pro-Bowler, and a member of the NFL's 1970s All-Decade Team, he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1994. Accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from Johnson.
