Graded GOOD 2 by SGC. 1888 N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinet card of Hall of Famer Jim O'Rourke of the New York Giants (pose #358-2). All Old Judge cabinets are extremely desirable, especially those of Hall of Famers. One of the great early stars of the game, O'Rourke batted .300 or better in thirteen of his twenty-two years in the National Association, National League, and Players' League, and was a member of seven championship clubs, five of them in Boston during the 1870s. He was also the first player to record a hit in National League history. When O'Rourke returned to the Giants to catch one game on September 22, 1904, at age 52, he became the oldest man to complete a major league game. This is a beautiful N173! The image on this card has superb clarity and tremendous detail. There is a small, unobtrusive crease in the lower-left corner, as well as pencil notations identifying O'Rourke on the reverse. This is a very striking and attractive Hall of Famer example from one of the nineteenth century's most revered sets. Opening Bid $1,000.
