Prewar Baseball - 1910s and 1920s Cards
Graded VG 3 by PSA. Outstanding mid-grade example of the key card from this 1920s set issued by the Spalding Sporting Goods Company. This is the premier 1920s Babe Ruth baseball card. The offered example is especially noteworthy for its extremely rare and desirable "Sept., 1927" copyright date on the reverse. This is one of only two examples with a 1927 copyright date graded by PSA (the other is graded NM 7). Arguably the most classic cards of the 1920s, the Spalding Champions set is beautifully and elegantly designed. This magnificent example is bright and crisp and has been downgraded due to light creases, even corner wear, and minor surface wear on the reverse. The text-style reverse refers to his home run total of 356 to start 1927, his three homers in one game in the 1926 World Series, and his MLB record of 59 home runs hit in 1921. This is an extremely attractive example of this striking 1920s Babe Ruth card, which would make an outstanding addition to any Ruth, New York Yankees, or vintage-card collection. Opening Bid $1,000.
