Presented is an enormous collection of 7,821 football cards spanning the years 1955 to 1985 produced by Fleer, Philadelphia, and Topps. Also included within are a handful of Kellogg's and Post Cereal cards. This assembly is highlighted by more than 750 Hall of Famers, among them some of the era's biggest names, including Gale Sayers, Terry Bradshaw, Walter Payton, Dan Marino, Roger Staubach, and countless others. While the majority of the Hall of Fame cards are single-player cards, there is significant representation in the form of League Leader cards as well. There are a handful of 1955 Topps All-American cards, but the overwhelming majority of the collection dates from 1972 to 1985 Topps sets. This grouping represents the duplicates from many years of set building by our consignor, who would acquire large groups or open packs (mostly during the 1980s) to help in his quest to complete sets. As one might expect with a collection of this magnitude, there is a wide range of card conditions represented. The collection is largely Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt in condition. It has been stored over the years in large 3200-count boxes, which have contributed in some cases to edge and corner wear. Approximately 20% of the collection would technically grade lesser due to creasing, and there are dozens of cards that exhibit extreme miscuts. There are hundreds of cards from the more recent part of the collection's date range, particularly from 1980 and 1985 Topps, that appear to be the byproduct of our consignor's pack opening, and those cards are noticeably crisp and clean and generally would present in Near Mint or better condition. The magnitude of this collection is substantial, generally with hundreds of cards from many of the Topps football sets issued between 1972 and 1985. It is an ideal collection for someone looking to fill out mid-grade sets or embark on a set-building journey of their own. Total: 7,821 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $1,000.
