Collection of thirty-three Chicago Cubs business checks all but one made payable and endorsed by team president William L. Veeck from the years 1918 (5), 1919 (7), 1920 (14), and 1921 (7). Veeck has signed twenty-nine checks along the base in black ink, one is signed by John Seys, and three are not signed. The checks (8.25 x 3.75 inches) all display normal bank cancellation stamps and holes. Flaws included but not limited to: edge tears, folds, and creases. In Poor to Very Good condition overall. This lot originates from the extraordinary collection of a longtime Chicago Cubs executive, Eldred "Salty" Saltwell, which is consigned to this auction by his family. Total: 33 checks.
