Presented is a magnificent complete 132-card set of T202 Hassan Triple Folders, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. The beautiful lithography, the great number of stars represented, and the unique design of T202 Hassan Triple Folders combine to make it one of the most highly regarded of all baseball-card sets of the era. Complete sets are very rarely offered assembled (or offered in set-form, in part due to the tremendous number of Hall of Famers), let alone in such outstanding condition. The set currently ranks third on the PSA Set Registry with an overall GPA of 6.03. Included are all five Ty Cobbs, eight Christy Mathewsons, and literally dozens of stars and additional Hall of Famers. PSA is notoriously hard on T202s, due to the "spider creases" which naturally occur along the folds of the side panels, as well as roller marks that are so common to the issue. These natural manufacturing flaws result in particularly harsh grading by PSA. This set consists of five NM-MT 8s (two qualified), forty-six NM 7s, one EX-MT+ 6.5, forty-seven EX-MT 6s, one EX+ 5.5, and thirty-two EX 5s. T202s are unnumbered. In the following condition composite, identifying card numbers are referenced from the numbers provided by the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards checklist. PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (5 cards): #48, 55 (OC), 92, 104, and 127 (OC). NM 7 (46 cards): #1 Wallace/LaPorte, 2 Wallace/Pelty, 5, 6, 7, 8 Baker/Collins, 10, 11, 12, 15 Bresnahan/Harmon, 17, 18, 24, 25, 28, 29, 32, 33, 42, 43, 45 Devlin (Rustlers)/Mathewson, 47 Meyers/Mathewson, 51, 52, 58, 63, 69, 77, 80, 81, 85 Meyers/Mathewson, 91, 95, 96, 97, 99, 100, 109, 114, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 130 Cobb/Moriarty, and 132 Dahlen/Wheat. EX-MT+ 6.5 (1 card): #94. EX-MT 6 (47 cards): #3 Cobb/O'Leary, 9 Johnson/Street, 14 Bresnahan/Oakes, 16 Chance/Foxen, 20 Shean/Chance, 22 Clarke/Gibson, 23, 31 Bender/Thomas, 34 Walsh/Payne, 35, 36 Speaker/Wood, 37, 38 Byrne/Clarke, 41, 46 Fletcher/Mathewson, 50, 56, 57, 59 Speaker/Engle, 66, 68 Cobb/Moriarty, 70, 71, 72 Lennox/Tinker, 73, 75, 76 Cicotte/Stahl, 78, 79 Bresnahan/McGraw, 82 Mathewson/Fletcher, 84 Jennings/McGraw, 86, 87, 88 Johnson/Knight, 90 Kling/Young, 98, 102, 103, 105 Clarke/Miller, 107 Speaker/Engle, 108, 110 Evans/Huggins, 111, 113, 115 Baker/Barry, 125 Devlin (Giants)/Mathewson, and 129 Cobb/Jennings. EX 5 (32 cards): #4, 13, 19, 21, 26 Chase/Wolter, 27 Clarke/Gibson, 30 Baker/Barry, 39 Baker/Collins, 40 Collins/Murphy, 44 Devlin (Giants)/Mathewson, 49, 53, 54, 60 Archer/Evers, 61 Chance/Evers, 62, 64 Chance/Tinker, 65 Cobb/O'Leary, 67, 74, 83 Marquard/Meyers, 89, 93, 101 McBride/Griffith, 106 Speaker/Wood, 116 Brown/Graham, 122, 123, 124, 126 Devlin (Rustlers)/Mathewson, 128, and 131. The offered set is extremely attractive throughout, with some cards clearly presenting far better than their assigned grades, likely due to one of the minor flaws common to this issue. This is one of the few complete sets of Triple Folders Robert Edward Auctions has ever had the privilege of offering. An outstanding opportunity to acquire one of the premier 1910-era tobacco-card sets in desirable, completely graded form. The total SMR value in the assigned grades (excluding the two qualified cards) is $91,945. Total: 132 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $25,000.
