Presented is a rare and exceptionally attractive twenty-card complete set of 1959 Home Run Derby highlighted by nine Hall of Famers, including Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays. This set was issued to promote the popular Home Run Derby television series, which was broadcast weekly and pitted power hitters against one another in a made-for-television home run hitting contest. Each of the players featured on these black-and-white cards, which measure 3.25 by 5.25 inches, was a contestant in at least one of the televised contests. Complete sets of these cards are very rarely offered, and examples are highly desirable among player and set collectors alike. The Home Run Derby card set is composed primarily of stars, featuring all of the great home run sluggers of the era including, Aaron, Banks, Hodges, Kaline, Killebrew, Mantle, Mathews, Mays, F. Robinson, and Snider. Each card has been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (19) and SGC (1, noted below). PSA Grading Composite: EX-MT 6 (3 cards): Hodges, Jensen and Mays. EX 5 (6 cards): Allison, Banks, Colavito, Lemon, Stuart and Triandos. VG-EX+ 4.5 (2 cards): Mathews and Post.
