Presented is legendary Detroit Tigers Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, one of the key cards from the extremely rare cabinet-card set issued in 1911 by Jones, Keyser & Arras Studios of New York City. Little is known about exactly how this unusual and remarkably high-quality set was issued. Each card in the set has a mounted sepia-toned photograph on the front and the studio’s name and address in the lower left on the reverse. This is one of the rarest of all Ty Cobb cards. Even a type card from this set is extremely rare. To date, SGC has encapsulated only seventy-four cards (of all subjects). This is one of only two examples of Cobb evaluated by SGC. This newly-discovered example presents with a flawless photograph and has a tack hole at the top and bottom of the mount, which accounts for the assigned PR 1 grade from SGC (submitted by REA). One of the most striking and substantial of all Ty Cobb cards, this is the first 1911 Jones, Keyser & Arras Cobb that we have offered in the past twenty years. Dimensions: 4.75 x 7.25 inches. Opening Bid $10,000.
