New York Yankees press pin issued for the 1926 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals defeated the Yankees in a dramatic seven-game Series in 1926 that featured one of the most memorable moments in postseason history. With the Cardinals clinging to a slim 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game 7, Tony Lazzeri came to bat with the bases loaded and two outs. Hornsby then summoned Grover Alexander, who had notched a complete-game victory the day before, from the bullpen. After Lazzeri brought the crowd to its feet with a line drive that landed just foul in the left-field stands, Alexander managed to strike him out to end the threat. Alexander then blanked the Yankees over the next two innings to give the Cardinals franchise its first World Series Championship. Manufactured by Dieges & Clust; threaded-post back. Approximately 1 x 1 inches. Excellent to Mint condition. Opening Bid $300.
