Exceedingly rare fold-over scorecard issued for a game between the New York Mutuals and the Boston Red Caps, held in Boston, dating from the National League's inaugural 1876 season. The preprinted lineups include George Wright, Jim O'Rourke, Andy Leonard, Tim Murnane, and John Morrill for Boston, and Bobby Mathews, Joe Start, Jimmy Hallinan, and Fred Treacey for New York. Neatly scored in pencil to record a 12-3 Boston victory. The game recorded here was played on Saturday, May 6th, and represented Boston's sixth game of the season. An advertisement for a Boston clothing store appears on both the front and back covers. The printing along the edges of the interior advertise both Harry Wright's "New Pocket Score Book" and George Wright's sporting-goods store. All items dating from the first year of the National League are extremely rare and of special note. The scorecard (4-5/8 x 5-5/8 inches, unfolded) displays only modest handling wear and is in Excellent condition overall. Opening Bid $300.
