Extremely rare unopened wax pack of 1991 Topps Desert Shield containing fifteen cards. Topps produced the 1991 Desert Shield set at the same time it produced its regular set in 1991 but with the special purpose of distributing the cards to members of the military stationed in the Middle East as part of Operation Desert Shield. The cards, differentiated from regular-issue cards by a gold foil stamp on the card front, caused quite a frenzy upon their release (reportedly limited to 6,500 sets) as cards were scattered across the world, but many did wind up in the hands of collectors. Their low print run compared to other sets of this era and their unique historical significance has made the set very popular with collectors to this day. The set is noted for the inclusion of Chipper Jones' rookie card, along with desirable examples of many Hall of Famers and stars, including Cal Ripken, Nolan Ryan, and Ken Griffey Jr. Crisp, clean unopened wax pack displaying a beautiful full-color wrapper and a tight seal. The pack comes shrink-wrapped by Baseball Card Exchange (owned by Steve Hart, the foremost expert on unopened material).
