Rarely offered example of Jackie Robinson (batting, white sleeves pose) from the circa 1947 Bond Bread set. The thirteen-card set is devoted entirely to Jackie Robinson and features the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Famer in various black-and-white poses on glossy card stock. The offered card features a flawless image of Robinson and four strong corners. The card is correctly designated as Authentic by PSA due to evidence of a repaired pinhole on the top border. The back, which bears Robinson's facsimile signature and the tag line "Folks, why not eat the bread that Jackie eats?", is boldly printed. (Important set-dating note: In the past, guides have always dated all Jackie Robinson Bond Bread cards as issued in 1947. Recent outstanding research conducted by two true card scholars and presented on Net54baseball.com conclusively proves the set was actually issued over a period of several years, 1947-1950. That is why we've added a "circa" to "1947" in this description. Here's the link: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=171169.) The circa 1947 Bond Bread issue is a historic set, dating from Jackie Robinson's earliest days in the majors, and individual cards from this classic issue will always be extremely desirable. Pedigreed from the Texan Collection. Opening Bid $300.
