Near-complete set of twenty-four cards from the R72 "I'm Going To Be" series. Missing only legendary rarity #4 Strongman for completion. This popular set, issued with Schutter-Johnson candies during the 1930s, features colorfully illustrated professions on the front and brief descriptions of the jobs on the reverse. These cards were designed to plant seeds of future employment in the minds of young children and offered numerous suggestions ranging from practical (fireman and policeman) to ambitious (athlete and baseball player) to far-fetched (pirate). All twenty-four cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC. Grading Composite: NM/MT 88 (5 cards): #9, 12, 14, 19, and 21 Boxer. NM+ 86 (2 cards): #11 and 24. NM 84 (8 cards): #1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 20, 22, and 25. EX/NM 80 (5 cards): #2, 6, 15, 16, and 23. EX+ 70 (3 cards): #8, 17, and 18. VG/EX 50 (1 card): #13. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a mid- to high-grade near-complete set (minus one) of this classic 1930s nonsport issue, entirely graded by SGC. Total: 24 cards. Opening Bid $200.
