Offered here is Pete Rose's National League Rookie of the Year Award that was presented to him for his remarkable performance during the 1963 season. The engraving on the front of the sterling silver bowl (12.3 ounces) reads "Baseball Writers Association Of America/1963/Rookie Of The Year/National League/Pete Rose/Cincinatti Reds.” (It is interesting to note that the engraver at the time misspelled the city name.) The manufacturer's engravings on the bottom of the base read "33/Sterling/Paul Revere Bowl/Reproduction/By Web." This award originates directly from the Rose family and is accompanied by a signed note of provenance (dated December 4, 1996) from Rose's wife, Karolyn Rose. The bowl, which measures eight inches in diameter at the top, displays a few minor scratches and is in overall Excellent condition. Adding to the appeal of the piece is the trophy is accompanied by a reproduction photo of Rose holding this very item. Opening Bid $15,000.
