Original news photo capturing Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) during his high school days at Power Memorial High School. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. The photo is of Alcindor leaping to block a shot. During Alcindor's legendary high school career, he led Power Memorial to a 79-2 record and three straight New York City Catholic championships. The reverse has a number of editorial markings and a "Doubleday & Co, Inc." editorial stamp. The photo (8 x 10 inches) has a few spots of discoloration along the white borders and a few spots of paper loss and tape residue along the reverse. In Very Good condition. Opening Bid $500.
