Addendum (8/4/2023, 3:34 PM): Please note it has been brought to our attention that this is NOT an original Braves Field stadium seat. This is a generic arena seat with an original Braves Field figural attached to the end.
Vintage stadium seat with an original Braves Field figural plate on one end. Braves Field was the longtime home of the Boston Braves and also a number of professional Boston football teams (AFL and NFL). Braves Field was built in 1915, and the Braves left Boston after the 1952 season, thereby dating the piece to sometime during that 38-year span. Braves Field played host to a number of memorable baseball moments, including the 1936 All-Star Game, Babe Ruth's final season with the Braves in 1935, and the longest game in Major League history - 26 innings. The field was demolished in 1955, and the field's site is now part of the campus of the Boston University. The seat, which features a modern commemorative plaque affixed to the middle slat of the backrest, appears to be all original. (According to a noted stadium seat expert, this seat is likely a Boston Garden seat with the original yellow paint removed.) The seat features a metal figural plate bearing the letters "B - NL - C" on the side. The metal components have oxidation to the exposed areas. The seat stands freely. 21 x 18 x 32 inches (with the seat open). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $300.
