Presented is a complete New York Yankees road uniform (jersey and pants) worn by Hall of Fame pitcher Herb Pennock during the 1932 or 1933 season. Pennock jerseys, let alone full uniforms, are scarce. This is the first example we have ever offered. The flannel jersey is lettered “New York” across the front, and the number “12” is featured on the reverse. Although the jersey has no year tag, it can be conclusively pinpointed to either 1932 or 1933 based upon the uniform number 12, which was worn by Pennock during those two seasons. (His earlier years with the Yankees he wore numbers 11 and 16.) All letters and numerals are appliquéd in navy blue felt. "Pennock H" is chain-stitched in red in the collar. Located to the right of Pennock’s name is a vintage “Spalding” label. There are extra button holes added to both the front and rear tails of the jersey as well as along the edges of the sleeves. This jersey has been photo matched by Resolution Photomatching to one worn by Pennock in September 1932. Aside from the extra custom-button holes, the jersey is completely original with no alterations. The jersey has moderate wear, including a small tear near the right shoulder and the top button is missing. The matching gray flannel pants feature Pennock's name (“H. Pennock”) chain-stitched in red along the waistband. A “Spalding” label is located to the right of Pennock’s name. The pants have significant wear, including rips in the waistband and a large tear on the front of the left pant leg that has been repaired. The length of the pants have been shortened. Pennock twice won twenty or more games with the Yankees and helped lead the club to World Championships in 1927 and 1928. He retired in 1934 with 241 wins and a 3.60 lifetime ERA. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1948, the year of his death. Total: 2 items (jersey and pants). Opening Bid $25,000.
