Red-and-blue stitched Official American League baseball (Barnard) signed in blue fountain pen by the following 24 members of the 1928 World Champion New York Yankees: Ruth (sweet spot), Gehrig, Huggins (Mgr.), Lazzeri, Pennock, Combs, Hoyt, Durocher, Grabowski, Durst, Zachary, Collins, Shealy, Pipgras, Meusel, Gazella, Thomas, Burns, Paschal (twice), Koenig, Heimach, Robertson, Dugan, and Johnson. The notation, "World - Champions - 1928," is neatly written in black ink directly above Ruth's signature. All of the manufacturer's stampings remain bold and legible. The ball has been coated with a very light layer of protective shellac and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. The 1928 club, which featured the fabled "Murderer's Row" lineup powered by Ruth and Gehrig, once again led the Major Leagues in home runs en route to its second consecutive pennant. Like the year before, the Yankees made short work of their National League rivals in the World Series, sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in four games to cement their legacy as one of the greatest teams of all time.
