Original news photo of Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) during the 1969 NBA draft, April 7, 1969. The historically significant photo features Alcindor being selected as the No. 1 pick of the draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Certified as an original Type 1 photograph by PSA/DNA. The photograph pictures Alcindor and Milwaukee Bucks general manager John Erickson, as Erickson presents his newly acquired rookie with a team jersey. A "United Press International Photo" credit stamp appears on the reverse. The date "4/14/69" is noted in black ink on the reverse, along with the name identifications of "Alcindor & Erickson" and a red ink stamp that reads "Sport." Abdul-Jabbar is one of the greatest players in NBA history. Holder of numerous career records, he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995. The following year he was selected as one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players by a panel of experts. The photo (7.75 x 9.5 inches) has a small area of paper residue on the reverse and a few very light surface wrinkles (visible only when viewed at certain angles), which in no way detract from its overall Excellent appearance.
