Extraordinary original photo of Babe Ruth posing with other members of the circa 1916 Boston Red Sox during their visit to the Draper & Maynard factory in Plymouth, New Hampshire. The candid photo is of Ruth assembling a baseball at the factory while a group of teammates admire his steady hand. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. This photo (along with the additional nine lots in this auction) originates directly from our consignor's grandfather, who was an executive at the Draper & Maynard Company. Although the photo is undated, the players pictured played together on the Red Sox only in 1916 and 1917. The photo measures 5 x 4 inches and is a snapshot image that was used to assemble a presentation album (the original album is no longer included with this photo). These photo albums were distributed to the players (and likely executives/employees of the company). As a point of reference, REA sold an album from the Tillie Walker estate last year. The image has exceptional clarity, and aside from a few light creases and a small tear on the bottom edge, is in Excellent condition. Opening Bid $500.
