Presented is a desirable example of the 1947 Baseball's Beloved Bums - The Brooklyn Dodgers magazine, signed by two of the most popular Dodgers and Hall of Famers of the early 1950s, Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese. Each player has signed and inscribed on the interior pages boldly to “Chris” in blue ink. Reese has penned "To Chris/Best of Health Always/Pee Wee Reese" on Page 23. Robinson has boldly scripted "Best Wishes Chris/Jackie Robinson" on the special insert page. Reese has added two additional signatures with inscriptions on interior pages (page 52 "Best Wishes" and page 56 "Good Luck"). Signed items of these two are particularly rare and have a very special significance. When Robinson broke into the majors, it was Pee Wee Reese who was the first player to actively and openly express unconditional acceptance and support for Robinson, embracing his presence on the team and offering his friendship. This lavishly illustrated eighty-page magazine, published in 1947 by Weiser Publishing Co., New York, recaps the 1946 season, previews the upcoming 1947 season, and looks back at past great Dodgers players and teams. This particular edition is noteworthy for the inclusion of a special insert on Robinson. Apparently, the magazine was published prior to Robinson joining the club, which occurred just before the start of the season. To rectify the glaring omission, the publishers reissued the magazine in May with a special insert that pictures Robinson and offers a glowing review of his play during the first month of the season. The magazine (9 x 12 inches) has moderate wear, including creasing and a small edge tear. All of the pages are clean and evenly toned. In Good condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $300.
