The 1954 Topps set is one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, among many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last card in the set), all in brilliant and stunning color. Presented is one of the finest sets of this classic issue that we have ever offered! All of the 250 cards in this complete set have been graded and encapsulated by PSA and consist of thirteen NM-MT 8s, eight NM+ 7.5s, and 229 NM 7s. The set's overall GPA of 7.07 ranks it 29th on the PSA Set Registry out of 233 sets registered to date. As any collector of high-grade early 1950s cards knows, assembling a complete set of any 1950s vintage issue is a daunting challenge, and this is especially true of 1954 Topps. The assembly of a set of this high quality and unrivaled consistency is the result of a tremendous investment of time, effort, and patience (in addition to capital). Many 1954 Topps cards are particularly challenging to find in high grade, especially due to print lines, centering issues, and their flush-to-the top-border design. PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (13 cards): #58, 105, 112, 133, 156, 165, 170, 181, 197, 214, 224, 230, and 235. NM+ 7.5 (8 cards): #7 Kluszewski, 20 Spahn, 24, 91, 99, 144, 221, and 223. NM 7 (229 cards): #1 Williams, 3 Irvin, 10 Robinson, 13 Martin, 17 Rizzuto, 30 Mathews, 32 Snider, 36 Wilhelm, 37 Ford, 45 Ashburn, 50 Berra, 70 Doby, 83 Collins, 90 Mays, 94 Banks RC, 102 Hodges, 128 Aaron RC, 132 Lasorda RC, 201 Kaline RC, 239 Skowron RC, and 250 Williams. This set was assembled one card at a time by a very dedicated, condition-conscious collector over a period of many years, with a concern for all factors but with a special consideration to overall eye appeal. The total SMR value for the individual cards is $49,035. Total: 250 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Opening Bid $10,000.
