Modestly graded example of Eddie Mathews’ rookie card. In addition to being his rookie card, 1952 Topps card #407 Eddie Mathews is also one of only a few key Hall of Famers in the rare high-number series, and as the last card in the set is also a condition rarity. Just as card #1 Pafko was subject to wear due to gravitating to the top of the pile, #407 Mathews was also subject to excessive wear at the bottom of the pile. In anything even resembling high grade, this has always been a very difficult card for anyone putting together a quality 1952 Topps set. The offered card has vibrant colors, outstanding registration, honest corner wear, and moderate creasing. Encapsulated as Authentic by PSA due to erased pencil marks to the right of Mathew's face.
